PEACH SKIN

I am obsessed with orange wines. I have been drinking and collecting them for many years. I always felt that Viognier would be a great orange wine candidate. It has thick golden skins, stone fruit aromatics, and a lower acid profile. We called this wine “Peach Skin” because well, that’s what it tastes and smells like!

2018

It all begins with an idea and a passion for a specific style of wine. We fermented this wine on skins until dryness, then pressed off into Acacia puncheons. The resulting wine gives off a golden orange hue and a density that reminds us of great red wines. This wine has all the structure of great orange wines and the aromatics of a white wine.

2019

The 2019 vintage was fermented to full dryness then pressed off into used French oak barrels for a 10 month elevage. This wine shows off the power of Viognier. Incredible structure in this wine, with peach pit, chalk, and peach blossom notes. This will age gracefully for years to come. Decant and serve at cellar temperature. DO NOT SERVE THIS CHILLED.

2020

This grape suffered from bloom damage. The resulting clusters were not uniform with lots of shot berries and strange morphology. The berries were much smaller than normal, so there was a greater skin to juice ratio. This vintage will be tough to repeat. The structure is off the charts. A strong candidate for over vintaging the wine.
